Steven G. Docherty, 67, of Rock Island, died Saturday, March 18, 2023 at home.  Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded and a private graveside service will take place at Edgington Cemetery at a later date.  Memorials may be made in care of the "Project of the Quad Cities" 1701 River Drive, Suite 110, Moline, Illinois 61265.  Arrangements are being handled by Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.

Steven was born in Aledo, Illinois on January 13, 1956, a son of Donald B. and Clarice M. Elliott Docherty.

Steven went to technical school at the Art Institute in Chicago.  He had a flair for life and could take the most mundane and make it magical.  He had an eye for design and fashion that was unmatched.  As a hair and life stylist for over 50 years he touched many different walks of life and made them and the spaces they lived in beautiful.  His soul was from the country but his love for theatrics and fashion drew him to the big city lights.  His decades-long career with Vidal Sassoon started in Chicago and took him all over the world as International Director.  From there, he lived and worked in LA, Beverly Hills, Miami, Minneapolis and many years in New York City before he found his way back home to slow down and enjoy his family whom he adored.  He will be fiercely missed by family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Donald B. Docherty; siblings, Sherry Docherty, Rock Island, Ill., Scott (Denise) Docherty, Springfield, Ill. and Shawn (Tina) Docherty, Bettendorf, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Clarice M. Docherty.
