Susan Ann Larson of Rock Island, IL passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy struggle with C.O.P.D. Susan was born on a sunny day on, May 20, 1945, at St Anthony Hospital in Rock Island, the daughter of Felix and Mary (Kruse) Kerres.
Susie graduated from Alleman High School and then went on to attend and graduate from Marycrest College in Davenport, IA. While in College, Susan aspired to teach English Literature, which she excelled at. Susie worked at John Deere and retired from the Rock Island Arsenal.
Susan loved to read and when that became a struggle for her, she loved to have the Bible read to her nightly. She also enjoyed camping and playing cards, especially euchre. She was always known for her quick wit and sense of humor.
A rosary will be recited at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, with an hour visitation to follow from 10:30am to 11:30am at St Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30am at the church. Inurnment will be in Chippiannock Cemetery. Memorials may be made in care of the family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Shawn Larson, who faithfully took care of the Bible readings that inspired them daily; sister, Karen (The Colonel) Booker; brother-in-law, Jack Stonehouse “A Legend”; and sister-in-law, Annette Kerres.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Eric Larson; granddaughter, Allyssa Larson; sisters, Joan Brown, Mary Frances Stonehouse, and Peggy Madison; brother, Richard Kerres; and brothers-in-law, John Brown, Kenny Booker, and Bill Madison.
She was loved by many nieces and nephews. She was a special person, one of a kind, with many friends and family who could probably exclaim that they knew “Sue, Susie, Susan Ann, Susan” and many other endearing variations of her name.
