Susan Y. Hawkins, 59, of Milan, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.  Services will be 10 am Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.  Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island.  In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Edgewood Baptist Church Building Fund (Grow Time), 2704 38th Street, Rock Island.

Susan was born in Newport, Arkansas on August 27, 1959, a daughter of M.L. and Eva Poskey Lassiter.  Later, Susan was blessed to have Frank Stephens enter her life and help Eva in raising her.

Susan married Russell "Kim" Hawkins on July 14, 1979 in Rock Island.  She worked as a medical receptionist for several area physicians for many years.

Susan was an active member of Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island, where she served on the missions board and participated in various bible study groups.  When her children were young, she was a teacher's assistant and an active member of P.T.A.  She also volunteered her time at Pregnancy Resources, Moline.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Russell "Kim" Hawkins, Milan; daughters, Heather (Chad) Nelson, Ankeny, Iowa and Stephanie (Michael) Benson, Collinsville, Oklahoma; mother and step-father, Eva and Frank Stephens, Rock Island; grandchildren, Madilyn, Noah and Aiden Nelson and Jackson and Jakob Benson; and sister, Sheila (Marty) Mills, Milan.

She was preceded in death by her father and brothers, Terry and Tim Stephens.
