Susan J. Schaecher, 57 of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014 at UnityPoint Health -Trinity Rock Island.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to Race For The Cure or to the American Heart Association.

Susan Jane Beckwith was born June 23, 1957 In Davenport, a daughter of Roger and Loretta Peitscher Beckwith. She married Joseph S. Schaecher on Nov. 11, 1989 in Davenport.

Susan graduated from Assumption High School in 1975, where she had been a cheerleader. She attended Scott Community College and worked as an I T Specialist at the Rock Island Arsenal. Susan retired in March after 35 years of service.

She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Susan enjoyed swimming, reading and participating in the Race For The Cure, Heart Walk and NAMI Walk. She had taught ballet at the University of Iowa. Susan loved her family, attending her sons activities and helping to care for her grandson, Adam.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph; sons, Stephen Schaecher (Ashley Kinnan) and Samuel Schaecher, all of Rock Island, and Mark Chudy, Monroe, Conn.; grandchildren, Adam Schaecher, Rock Island, and Haley Chudy, Monroe; and brothers and sisters, David Beckwith, Arvada, Colo., Denise (Len) Spindel, Moline, Connie Roscoe, Aurora, Colo., Gail (Tim) Bain, Rock Island, and Glenn (Stefanie) Beckwith, Merrimac, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Steven and Clayton Beckwith.
