Susan M. Shannon, 70, of Rock Island, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at UnityPoint Health Trinity, Rock Island.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Saint Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. A rosary will be recited at 3:00 pm on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will follow the rosary from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be left in care of the American Diabetes Association.

Susan was born on January 16, 1955, in Rock Island, a daughter of Roy A. and Rose M. (Schieberl) Van Tuyl. She married Alan Shannon on June 9, 1973, and they enjoyed over 52 years of marriage together. Susan worked for Isabel Bloom for many years, putting the final touches on every figurine.

Susan's hobbies included fishing, golfing, shopping for shoes and purses, doing crafts, and sewing. She thoroughly enjoyed card club with her friends and was also a member of the Rock Island Elks club, where she served as the ladies' president. The highlight of Susan's life was spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Susan's memory include her husband, Alan Shannon; children, Juliet (Leif) Christenson, Alan (Karen) Shannon Jr., and Melissa Shannon (Sarem Roeung); grandchildren, Zacariah (Kara) Shannon, Ethan Christenson, Erin Shannon (Fiance, Ethan Christ), Nicholas Shannon, and Remmy Roeung; one great-granddaughter on the way; sister, Rosalie Verstraete; and beloved dog, Bugsy.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Thomson.
