Suzanne Kay Buddin, 82, Milan, IL passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at her daughter's home in Minooka, IL. There will be a visitation from 9:30-10:30 on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. The funeral Mass will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to the Milan Food Pantry or Blue Cross Mission Ladies of St. Ambrose.
Suzanne was born on June 22, 1942 to Harold and Marie (Cockerill) Freed in Rock Island, IL. After graduating from Alleman High School, she began her long career as an executive secretary at Bituminous Insurance. She retired after 51 years with the company. Suzanne was a very devoted loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed.
Suzanne was a very active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. She was involved in the Blue Cross Mission, helped with the annual rummage sale and taught preschool Sunday School for 45 years. She also volunteered at the Milan Food Pantry.
In her spare time, Suzanne loved to shop. She also enjoyed crafts, especially scrapbooking and making homemade greeting cards. She was an avid reader and loved anything Disney. Often, she could be found watching college sports. She cherished the time she could spend with her family. Suzanne will be remembered as a great baker and as a loving, generous woman, who cared deeply for both people and animals often snuggled up with a pet on her lap.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Kristin Buddin; grandson, Christopher (Bre Featherston) Buddin; great-grandchildren, Nolan and Addilyn Buddin; siblings, Judy Freed, Barbara (John) Laughlin, Donna Hoke, and Delores (Dan) Bradley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by a bonus family who she loved as her own and who were there to visit and care for her in her last days. Her adoptive relatives include children, Jennifer Kirkpatrick, Rob Kirkpatrick; grandchildren, Lillian Kirkpatrick, Abigail (Daniel) Garcia, Shelby (Jake) O'Brien, Barrett (Janell) Mays; and great-grandchildren, Duke Mays, Madeline Mays, Xitali Garcia, and Charles O'Brien.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Mary Rodamsky and Dennis Freed; and niece, Julie Jackson.
