IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Terry Eugene
Barrett
September 15, 1952 – August 28, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry Eugene Barrett, 71, of Rock Island, IL. Terry passed away Wednesday, August 28th, 2024 at his home.
Terry, son of Phyllis (Ehmen) and Yohman Barrett, was born on September 15, 1952 in Metropolis, IL. On February 2, 1974, Terry married his high school sweetheart, Mary R Garvey. Terry worked at Rock Island Packaging after high school. He spent most of his career as a Foreman working for Asplundh & Wright's Tree Service. Terry never found a tree he wouldn't or couldn't climb.
Terry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was always willing to help anyone that needed a lending hand, especially if they needed help with trimming a tree. Whether it was working or hunting Terry enjoyed being in the trees. He will be remembered for his love of Harleys, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. His hobbies included traveling with his wife, tinkering in his garage and feeding the deer in his backyard. He also loved his time playing in softball leagues for many years, and was a Golden Glove boxer during his twenties.
Those left to cherish Terry's memory include his sister, Jana Kalinczak of Sherrard, IL, his daughter, Tracey (Dave) Babula of South Elgin, IL; son, Terry (Angela) Barrett of Pleasant Hill, IA; and daughter, Trisha (Tony) Themas of LeClaire, IA; grandchildren Brodee, Lily, Samantha, Hunter, Nicholas, Jaxon, Lyla and Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Barrett, parents, and brothers Bob Barrett and Ronnie Barrett.
Per Terry's wishes there will not be a visitation. A celebration of life service will be announced to family and friends at a later date. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.wheelanpressly.com.
