Thomas "Tom" E. Bivens, 74, of Taylor Ridge passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024 at UnityPoint Health Trinity, Rock Island.

Private inurnment with military honors will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider leaving a donation to an organization in Tom's name or simply perform an act of kindness in honor of him.

Tom was born on November 5, 1949 in Milan, IL, a son of Richard and Mary (Bopp) Bivens. He married Mary Ann McManus on September 7, 1977. Tom worked at Case IH as an assembler for 30 years before retiring. He was also a master carpenter and was in the home improvement business for 20 years.

Tom served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war and was deployed in country. He was a member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He enjoyed yard work and reading. Tom loved helping others and was a blood donor for over 50 years.

Those left to cherish Tom's memory include his wife, Mary Ann Bivens; sons, Clint (Leigh) Bivens and John (Mallory Harrelson) Bivens; grandchildren, Sadie (Austin) Busby and Dean Bivens (Olivia Frazer); great-grandchildren, Briar and Penny Busby; siblings, Sue Shelladay, Minerva Guinn and Randall (Cheryl) Bivens; sister-in-law, Linda Bivens; and many beloved nieces, nephews and god children.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard (Connie) and John Bivens.
