Obituary

Thomas J. Manion, 93, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Moline. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2022, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Thomas was born on December 4, 1928, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, a son of William and Mary (O'Donnell) Manion. Thomas proudly retired from the U.S. Armed Forces after serving in the U.S. Army for 9 years and later the U.S. Air Force for 11 years. He then worked as a corporate accountant at the A.D. Huesing Corporation for 18 years, retiring in 1990. Thomas was a member of the former Rock Island VFW Post 1303. He was also a former member of the Rock Island Moose Lodge and the Rock Island Eagles Club. Thomas loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed walking and swimming in his younger years.

Those left to cherish his memory include his nephews, William (Sharon) Teager, East Moline, and Thomas (Stacey) Teager, Milan; and great nieces and nephews, Nathan Teager, Kaitlyn (Nick Lisowski) Teager, Paige Teager, and Alexandra (Donald) Bell.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Winifred Zellmer, James Manion, Anne Bardoel, Eugene Manion, and Florence Huff; and nephew, Michael Teager.
