Thomas J. Plechaty, 78, of Rock Island, died Sunday, Nov.15, 2015 at the Kahl Home, Davenport.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Private inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island Kiwanis Club, or to QC Paws.

Thomas Plechaty was born Oct. 29, 1937 in Cicero, Ill., a son of Jerry and Leona Teising Plechaty. He married Sandra J. Nowicki on Apr. 18, 1964 in Cicero.

Tom graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., with a Bachelors Degree with emphasis in business. He was a food broker and served as President of Hockenberg Rubin, of Des Moines, Iowa and later was Divisional President of Sales Force. He currently was serving as a consultant to the A.D. Huesing Corp., of Rock Island. Tom came to the Quad Cities in early years to serve as a toy buyer for the Jaydon Corp.

He served in the U.S. Army. Tom was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island, where he served on the church council. He was also a member of the Oakwood Country Club and the Rock Island Kiwanis Club, where he served on the board of directors. Tom loved to fish and play golf.

Survivors include his wife, Sandi; daughters, Beth Plechaty, Boynton Beach, Fla., Tina Plechaty-Schmitt and her husband, Chris Schmitt, Chicago, and Deb Plechaty-Anderson and her husband, Terry Anderson, Rock Island; grandchildren, Chelse Sander, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Antonio Anderson, Rock Island. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harry Hedge.
