Thomas J. Smith, 58, of Milan, passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan or to Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Tom was born on March 21, 1958 in Rock Island, the son of Dale and Rosemary (Davies) Smith. He worked as a truck driver for Ruan Logistics for 13 1/2 years. Tom enjoyed reading, fishing, nascar, and taking care of his animals. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Tom was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Milan, he enjoyed being an usher for the church greeting everybody with a big smile.
Tom is survived by his significant other, Kim Bowser; children, Elizabeth Smith, Moline, Benjamin Smith, Moline, Nicole Smith, Rock Island, and Jeffrey Smith, Denver, CO; granddaughters, Briannah, Emily, Ivie, and Rylee; siblings, Georgia (Chuck) Slentz, Moline, Michael (Cindy) Smith, Pleasant Valley, IA, Christopher Smith, IL, Kathy Clementz, MO, Teresa Smith, FL, Doreen Smith, Indianapolis, IN, Vincent Smith, Andalusia, and Mary Fitch, Oregon; and long time friend, Jeff Aversing. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Timothy and George Smith.
