Thomas "Tom" W. Hinzman, 57, of Milan, died Monday, December 10, 2018 at home with family by his side.  A funeral mass will be 10 am Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island.  A rosary will be 3:30 pm Friday followed by visitation from 4-7 pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of the American Cancer Society.

Tom was born in Covington, Kentucky on July 14, 1961, a son of Lawrence and Anne Bednar Hinzman.  He married Sheila L. Greim on June 14, 1986 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan.

Tom started working in construction when he was 16 years old.  He started Hinzman Construction, Milan, which he has run successfully for the last 35 years.

Tom was passionate about work.  He also enjoyed shooting, hunting, driving ATV's and snowmobiles and watching football.  Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sheila Hinzman, Milan; children (and spouses), Dr. Justin (Laura) Hinzman, Rock Island, Ryan (Shayla) Hinzman, Rock Island and Erica (Christopher) DePaepe, Andalusia; grandchildren, Nona Hinzman, Landon and Lincoln Hinzman and Brooklynn, Paislee and Alayna DePaepe; father, Lawrence Hinzman, Rock Island; and sister, Mary Anne (Steve) Goodell, Rock Island.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Hinzman, grandson, Wyatt Hinzman and brother, Larry Hinzman.
