Thomas C. Wells, 85, Rock Island, IL passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at St. Anthony's Nursing Home in Rock Island, IL. The family will be having a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Greater Antioch Baptist Church, Rock Island.

Thomas was born on February 26, 1939 to John Henry and Bertie (Anderson) Wells in Waverly, TN. He grew up in Tennessee and then after graduating from high school moved to the Quad Cities for his job as a gandy dancer on the railroad. He then was employed briefly at a banana factory in Moline before starting his career with John Deere Harvester. Thomas worked in the factory for thirty-two years until his retirement.

In his spare time, Thomas loved spending time outside. He loved gardening, tending to his greens, onions and other vegetables as well as his fruit trees. Neighbors marveled at his peach, pear and apple trees. He also enjoyed going to Sunset Park with his beloved dogs and riding his Harley.

He will be greatly missed by his children, Daphne Tripplett Wells, Barb Wells, Thomas (Cindy) Wells Jr., Denise Miles, Regina Teague, Almeta Smith, Tim Smith, Thomas Smith, John (Lori) Smith, and Aaron (Angie) Smith; brothers, Lester Hugh Wells, John Walter Wells, Roy Wells, Frankie Wells, Leon Wells, Dorothy Wells, Bernice Wells, Shirley Wells, and Mary Wells; numerous grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and special friend, Allen Holland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Stephanie McClain.
