Timothy E. Lavell, 72, of Rock Island, Ill. died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at UnityPoint Health- Trinity, Rock Island.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 4 pm to 8pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan, where a Christian wake service will be conducted at 4 pm at the funeral home. A memorial mass will be 10 am, Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Alleman High School or to the QC Animal Welfare Center.
Timothy was born June 6, 1942, in Rock Island, the son of Edward and Dolores "Orzie" Maxwell Lavell. He married Karen E Cichon on May, 30, 1964 in Chicago.
Tim attended Alleman High School before Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Mo. He went on to receive his bachelor's degree in business at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, where he met his wife, Karen.
Tim worked for Miller Container and as a financial planner at Connecticut Mutual Life, the Cleveland Agency, and Country Company. Later in life he worked for Midwest Fiber Products.
He also coached Rock Island girls' softball for 18 years, refereed high school and college football, and participated in S.A.S. S. Cowboy Action shooting competitions under the name "Wilderness John." One of Tim's favorite hobbies was recreating Native American artifacts, such as shields and tomahawks. He also held the patent for the "Deerslayer" archery glove.
Timothy is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters Missy (Greg) Green and Mindy (Marty) Clark, Rock Island; brothers James (Judy) and Ned Lavell, Rock Island; his six grandchildren Paul and James Green and Brock and Drew Nicole Clark, all of Rock Island, US Navy MA Joshua Green, Okinawa, Japan, and Garret Clark, Burlington, Iowa; his nephews Doug, Trent and Luke Lavell; and his pet dog "Lulu."
