Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Timothy "Tim" Ross Jr., who departed this life on March 20, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on November 18, 1947, in Quincy, Illinois, to parents, Carlene and Timothy Ross Sr. Tim touched the lives of many with his kind spirit and unwavering dedication to his family and community.

Tim was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served from February 8, 1972, until his honorable discharge on September 20, 1973, where he achieved the rank of Lance Corporal. After his service, Tim followed his passion for creation and craftsmanship as a contractor, proudly operating his own business in the construction industry. He had a remarkable talent for designing and building furniture, leaving behind a legacy of unique pieces that will be cherished by those who knew him.

As a young man, Tim was an active member of the Second Baptist Church, where he cultivated lifelong friendships and a strong sense of community. He also embraced the art of hair styling, showcasing his creativity and flair in every aspect of his life.

In his free time, Tim enjoyed fishing, often finding tranquility by the water's edge. His love for restoration was most evident in his passion for old cars, as he dedicated much of his time to bringing these vehicles back to life. Timothy also found joy in the thrill of visiting the casino, where laughter and camaraderie shared with family and friends filled his heart.

Tim is survived by his wife, Ellen Heritage; his children, Consuelo Ross, Christopher Ross, LaShaun Ross, Adrian Watson, Quincy Ross, and Cassie Magee and his step-children, Tonisha Martin and Aaron Watson. He is also remembered in the thoughts of his siblings, Sandra Terral, Johnnie E. Ross, Crystal Baskin, Ilene (Herbert) Green, Patricia (Dwight) Williams, Michael L Ross, Richard Perry, Kevin W Ross, and Byron K. Ross. He will be remembered for his warm smile, gentle nature, and the love he so freely gave to all who crossed his path.

Tim was Grandpa and Papa to a host of biological grandchildren and some grandchildren that adopted him, and others that he adopted in his heart. A special mention is also deserved for his dearest friends that were closest to him like Rory Williams, and his very special cousin Richard Gay.

Funeral services will be held on April 4, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home in Rock Island, Illinois. A visitation will take place at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be made in Tim's name to Second Chance Housing in Davenport or the Scott County Humane Society.

In this difficult time, we invite all who knew Timothy Ross Jr. to gather in remembrance of a remarkable man whose spirit will live on in all our hearts.

Timothy was preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter, Tamika Watson; siblings, Kurice Woodfard, Thomas Ross, Rosalind M Spires, and Reginald E. Ross; the man that helped raise him, Samuel Hickman; and his brother-in-law, Henry Terral.
