Utilia C. Reed, 90, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Friendship Manor in Rock Island.

Private family services will be held, with burial to take place at Rock Island National Cemetery. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave, Milan, is assisting family with funeral arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Wounded

Utilia was born Jan. 20, 1924, in Auburn, N.Y., the daughter of Jose and Maria (Saraiva) Ferreira. She married Frederick P. Reed on Nov.

2, 1947, in Boston, Mass.

Utilia served our country in the United States Marine Corp.

Utilia will be remembered by her two daughters, Carol (Michael) Stine of Andalusia, and Shirley (Carl) Bigney of Davenport; her grandchildren Amber Diem, Michele Stine, Matthew Stine, Chris

Scherbroeck, Shawn Sherbroeck, Eric Reed, and Jasmine Reed; and her

sister Tina (Richard) Ostrowski. She was preceded in death by her

husband Frederick P. Reed; her parents; her daughter Karen

Scherbroeck; and her two sons Frederick C. Reed and Kevin Reed.
