Vance A. Edmondson, 72, of Coal Valley, passed away Saturday February 13, 2021 at home.
A private service will be held Friday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley and will be livestreamed at 11am at https://vimeo.com/512641469. Public visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00pm Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Those attending are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Burial will be in Beuhla Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial fund that will be established at a later date.
Vance was born on June 22, 1948 in Chicago, the son of Joseph and Virginia (Yeager) Edmondson. He married Patricia DeVrieze on February 28, 1970 at St. Ambrose Church, Milan.
Mr. Edmondson had been employed at MidAmerican for over 44 years, retiring as a supervisor. In his earlier years Vance had helped his father in law, Joe DeVrieze farm and currently assisted his son Joe, continue the family farm.
He was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church, Coal Valley, former Rock Island County Fair Board Director for 16 years and served as a past president, Rural Township Supervisor and member of the Farm Bureau.
He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed attending all the activities they participated in. Vance also enjoyed going to fairs, Old Threshers' Reunion, camping with the grandkids, was an avid University of Illinois Sports fan and the Chicago Bears.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; children, Angie (Blake) Reed, Joe (Angie) Edmondson, Jason Edmondson (Hannah Berntson); daughter in law, Jaime Edmondson; grandchildren, Megan, Austin, Miranda, Kyle, Alex, Dylan and Caden; siblings, Linda, Curt, Carol, Scott, Leo, Diane and Judy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Virginia; grandson, Evan Patrick and brother, Dean.
