Velma W. Anderson, 85, of Milan, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Hope Creek Nursing Center, East Moline.Funeral services will be 11:00am, Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 9:30am to 11:00am on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sherrard Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

Velma was born on May 14, 1928 in Lamona, IA, the daughter of Rutherford and Mary (Hurst) Shannon. She married Arlie "Shadow" Anderson on September 6, 1955 in Iowa.

Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, gardening and bowling.

Survivors include her children, Denise Anderson, Christine (Kelvin) Hipkins, both of Milan; grandsons, Kyle Hipkins, Chad Hipkins; sisters, Betty Kelly, CO., and Mae Forsberg, KS.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers, Vernon and LeRoy Shannon.
