Vera L. Stout, 94, of Aledo, formerly of Reynolds, died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Genesis Senior Living in Aledo. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 13228 140th St. W., Taylor Ridge. Visitation will be prior to the services Thursday from 9:30 - 11 am at church. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery. Memorials may be made in care of Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church or to Genesis Senior Living.

Vera was born in Rock Island County on September 26, 1919, a daughter of Frank and Eliza Guyer Venable. She married Charles H. Stout on June 14, 1941. He preceded her in death in April of 1995.

Vera was co-owner and worked as a bookkeeper for Miller and Stout bookstore in Reynolds for twenty plus years.

She was a member, elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir at the Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Taylor Ridge. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing bridge, dancing and traveling.

Survivors include; her daughters, Karyl Parrish, Coal Valley and Donna (Bob) Flowers, Alexis, Ill.; grandchildren, Tammi (Dan) Larson, Karla Pearson, Nicole (Scott) Flowers-Kimmerle, Kurt (Jenn) Flowers and Kyle Flowers; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Jordan Larson, Anna Pearson, Payton Flowers and Malia, Charles and Eliana Kimmerle; and a special friend, Charlie Bellinger, Reynolds.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers, Melvin and Albert Venable.
