Vera L. Bolte, 96, of Rock Island, died Saturday, September 24, 2016.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of First Baptist Church, Rock Island, or a charity of your choice.

Vera was born in Rock Island on May 3, 1920, a daughter of Alma and Edna Ralston Witherspoon.  She married Raymond C. Bolte on August 2, 1941 in Missouri.  He preceded her in death on April 9, 2005.

Vera worked for Container Corporation for 25 years.  She was a very active member at First Baptist Church, Rock Island.  Vera enjoyed listening to books on tape.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children (and spouses), Wayne (Shirley) Bolte, Omaha, Neb., Nancy (Nick) Coin, Rock Island, Carol (Bill) Jackson, Pawcatuck, Conn. and Terry (Mary Olson) Bolte, Rockwood, Mich.; grandchildren, Steve, Gena, Charles, Michael, Kate, Jennifer, Jeremy and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Emma, Caroline, Justin, Miranda, Natalie, Dana, Bailey, Molly, Jackson, Carson, Ava and Miles; brother, Milton (Phyllis) Witherspoon, Rock Island; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and five brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff at Friendship Manor for all of the compassionate care extended to Vera and her family during her time there.
