Obituary

MILAN — Vernon L. Booton, 91, of Milan, passed away Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
A brief visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Private burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Honor Flight of the Quad-Cities. Vernon and his grandson, Brian, participated in the Sept. 20, 2014, Honor Flight.
Vernon was born on May 22, 1924, in Galesburg, Ill., the son of Charles and Callie Booton. He married Eileen Hodson on June 30, 1945, in Milan.
Mr. Booton had been employed at Eagle Food Centers, Milan, as an accountant for 31 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, who served in the European Operation aboard the USS LST-287 and also served in the Pacific Ocean Theater.
Vernon loved spending time with his family and his weekly cribbage game with his brother-in-law, Carl. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Survivors include his daughters, Vicki Babinski, Rock Island, Debbie Schneckloth, Coal Valley; grandchildren, Jeff (Tricia) Babinski, Michael Babinski, Brian (Sophia) Schneckloth; and great-grandchildren, Brooke and Gabrielle Babinski, Yianna, Jordan and Alexander Schneckloth.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen; son-in-law, Keith Schneckloth; brothers, Harry, William, Gale and Harold Booton.
