Services to celebrate the life of Vicki M. Resler, 78, of Rock Island, will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at the Knox Chapel of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 2106 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Family will greet friends and loved ones from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2017, at the Knox Chapel. Her earthly remains will be entombed in the Memorial Park Mausoleum, Rock Island immediately following the service. Vicki passed away at home on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. Vicki M. James was born April 24, 1939 in Winside, Nebraska, a daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Roberts James. She was united in marriage to Donald G. Resler on May 16, 1985 in Rock Island. Vicki served as office manager for Dr. John Banas for 20 years, retiring in 2012. Previous to this service, she shared her life with the patrons of O'Melia's Supper Club. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Rock Island. Vicki was happiest when surrounded by the love of her family, especially her grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Donald; children, Valerie (Joseph) Atnip, Rock Island, Tony (Sue) VanDeWalle, Rock Island, Michael (Kim) Resler, Rock Island, and Julie (Jeff) Kautz, Moline; grandchildren, Michaela, Erica, Ryan, Tony Jr., Luke, Kaitlyn, Ethan, Shelby, Logan, Haley, Hailey, Trevor, Matthew, Emily and Aaron; great-grandchildren, Connor, Ali, and Owen; brother, Dick Syler, Rock Island; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters. Memorials may be made in her memory to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
