IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Victor A.
Cardoso
October 7, 1947 – November 17, 2024
Victor A. Cardoso, 77, of Rock Island, died Sunday, November 17, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded. The family will be planning a celebration of life event in the spring or summer of 2025. Memorials may be made in care of the Parkinson's Foundation: Support the Parkinson's Foundation - Parkinson's Foundation. Victor was born on October 7, 1947 in Mexico City, Mexico, a son of Armando and Socorro Cardoso. He married Terri R. Clegg with whom he had two sons, Jerry and Adam. They later divorced.
Victor worked as a substation electrician at Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Co. before becoming a system operator at Mid-America. He completed his career working for ATC in Wisconsin.
He enjoyed getting to know people by gifting them jars of salsa wherever he may spark up a conversation. This made him quite popular, and the Quad City Times even published an article on the "Salsa Claus" of the Quad Cities. That was even how many would come to find him on Facebook. It brought Victor so much joy. His greatest pride in life would be his sons. He constantly talked about how proud he was of them. He enjoyed spending time with them, making memories and traveling together.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Jerry Cardoso and Sheli Barber, Tracy, CA, Adam and Robin Cardoso, Northfield, IL and Brandon and Brooke Strang, Lakeland, FL; 6 grandchildren; Tyler and Aidan Cardoso, Jackson and Izzy Cardoso, Isabella and Bailee Strang; and three siblings, Maria, Tony and Ana.
He was preceded in death by his parents Armando and Socorro Cardoso, brother Alex Cardoso, Aunt Pepita and Aunt Conchita.
Online condolences, memories and expressions of sympathy may left for the family
