Vincent D. McManus, 76, of Taylor Ridge, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at his home. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Andalusia. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 4th Ave. E., Milan. Visitation will follow the Rosary from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Rockridge High School Future Farmers of America Chapter or to the family. Vincent was born on June 18, 1941 in Rock Island, a son of Joseph and Dorothy (Redecker) McManus. He married Margaret "Maggie" Moseley on August 26, 1972 in Milan. Vince worked as a custom farmer in a tri-county area. Vince and his wife owned M&M Farms in Taylor Ridge, and was part of the J & D Land Trust. He was a certified welder for John Deere and worked as welder for East Moline Metal Products, Ametek, Montgomery Escalator, and International Harvester in East Moline until 1982 when he retired early due to health reasons. In addition, he drove semi for B & B Electric, Hiland Potato Chip, and McGinnis Industries. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Andalusia and the Minneapolis-Moline Collectors Club and participated in many tractor pulls in a 2-State area with his 1966 Minneapolis Moline G-1000 tractor. Vince had served in the Illinois National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Maggie; children, Don McManus, Spring, Texas, Jodi McManus, Moline and Michelle McManus and her husband, Mike Edmunds, Rock Island; brothers, Tom (Nancy) McManus, Larry McManus, Pat McManus and Steve McManus; sister in law, Darla McManus; brothers in law and sisters in law, Tom and Jeanette Moseley, Leo and Susie Moseley, Ken and Eileen Moseley, Sister Kathleen Moseley OSF, Evelyn Parchert, Mary Lou and Richard Bridge, Pauline and Roy Swanson, special sisters in law, Mona and Becky; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
