Obituary

Viola M. Dietsch, 88, of Milan, passed away Saturday April 26, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.Funeral services will be 10:30am Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be left for the Rock Island Conservation Club, American Cancer Society or Trinity Hospice.

Viola was born on March 9, 1926 in Tipton, IA, the daughter of Edward and Mabel (Spencer) Hass. She married George VanDeKerchove, he preceded her in death. She married Richard Pfaff, he also preceded her in death. She later married Duane Dietsch on November 12, 1957 in Iowa City. He also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Dietsch had been employed by Johannes Bus Service for 27 years before her retirement.

She was a lifetime member of Milan American Legion and the Rock Island Conservation Club and had been a member of the Red Hats (Wild Cats). Viola enjoyed reading, playing cards and very at active with the Rock Island Senior Center.

Survivors include her children, Rita(Jim) Plank, Cedar Rapids, Dr. Gary(Betty) VanDeKerchove, Springfield, IL, Linda(Keith) Shaw, Rock Island, Vickie Jones, Milan, Ronnie(Mary Lou) Dietsch, Davenport, Karen Schafman, San Antonio, TX, Barbara Dietsch(Mike Wafer), Davenport; step sons, Dale Dietsch, Gary Dietsch, Rodney Dietsch; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Helen Christensen, Marion, IA, Lois(Tom) Genz, East Moline, Sandra Ross, Jasper, MO. and brother, Clinton Beeks, Davenport.

She was preceded by her parents; brother, John Beeks and sister, JoAnn Welch.
