Virgie C. Swift, 64, of Rock Island, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Virgie Catherine Campbell was born on July 25, 1950 in Osceola, Ark., a daughter of Frank and Velma Jones Campbell. She married James Swift, Jr. on July 25, 1971 in Osceola, Ark. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1998. Virgie worked for the Swords Veneer Lumber Company for 25 years and then Hill and Valley until her retirement in 2010. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, going to the casino and bowling with the Wildcat Bowling Guild.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lisa (Vincent Boone) Robinson, Rock Island, Charles Swift, Rock Island, Pamela (Steve) Rudolph, Atlanta, Georgia and Doris Swift, Rock Island; grandchildren, Sherika, Shermika, Desiraee, Christopher, Jamisha, Jasmine, Demetria, Terrence, Dominic, Charla, Brittney and Aliyah; seven great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Jessie Campbell, Davenport, Iowa, Peggy (George) Patrick, Osceola, Ark., Joe Willie (Tyran) Campbell, Tony (Johnnie) Campbell and Frank (Ora) Campbell, Jr., along with a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by several siblings, including her twin sister.
