Virginia Lee Mohlenbruck, age 90, of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Rock Island, Illinois, peacefully passed away at her home on September 21, 2026. In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites were accorded, and there will be no formal service. A private inurnment will be held at Hamlet Cemetery in Hamlet, Illinois, where she will be laid to rest.

Virginia was born on December 6, 1935, in Newton, Iowa, to Chester and Lola Summers Lawrence. She married Duane Doss, with whom she shared the joy of raising three children, before he preceded her in death. Later in life, she found love again with Dwight Mohlenbruck, who also preceded her. 

Virginia devoted much of her professional life as a skilled phlebotomist at Metro Laboratory, where she worked until her retirement in her early 60s. Her passion for creativity and connection shone brightly through her hobbies, which included crafting, ceramics, and sewing. Virginia also delighted in shopping and spending time at casinos. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, Denise (Tab McDonough) Doss of Bettendorf, Iowa; Pamela (David) Donner of Rock Island, Illinois; and Todd (Pebble) Doss of Lynn Center, Illinois. She also leaves behind her beloved stepdaughter, Dwineice Mohlenbruck of Rock Island, Illinois; seven treasured grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren, with one on the way. 

Virginia was preceded in death by her husbands, Duane and Dwight; her parents; and her sister, Irene Carpenter. Although no formal services will be held, we invite family and friends to come together in spirit to honor Virginia's vibrant life and the love she shared.
