Walter L. Hearn, 76, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Walter was born on January 26, 1940 in Collierville, TN, the son of Willie and Mattie Hearn Sr.  He worked as a construction worker for the Local Union #309.  Walter loved fishing and spending time with his family.

Walter is survived by his sons, Craig Patrick, Jerome (Barbara) Reed, and Terrance Branigan; step children, Karen Cullins, Regina Mason, Priscilla Black, and Richard Black; grandchildren, Laetitia Braxton, Jamiee Bond, Taviana Branigan, Toriana White, and Terrance Branigan Jr.; great grandson, Jay Bond; siblings, Evell (Eva) Hearn, Betty (Ed) Gray, Dean (Linda) Hearn, Vickie Hearn, and Lois Hearn; and ex-wife, Rose Black.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willie Hearn II, Roosevelt Hearn, Conell Hearn, and Charles Hearn; sisters, Tinnie Beason and Mattie Mae Hearn; son, Ricky Hearn; daughter, Tia Shanta Branigan; and stepson, Kevin Black.
