Wanda J. Chance-Samier, 87, of Milan passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at UnityPoint Health Trinity, Rock Island.

Services will be at 10:00 am Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chapel Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the family.

Wanda was born on February 11, 1934 in Love County, Oklahoma, a daughter of Nathan and Lillian (Hice) Barton. She married Robert F. Chance on December 12, 1965 and he preceded her in death on July 7, 2002. She later married Donald G. Samier on June 18, 2005 and he preceded her in death on October 3, 2021. Wanda worked as a cook for the Rock Island-Milan School District for many years. She enjoyed crafts, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Nancy (Steve) Burg, Richard (Chris) Chance, Michelle (Dan) Taets, Michael Chance, Daniel (Dawn) Chance and Kimberly Chance; stepsons, Donald and Henry Samier; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several foster children; siblings, Jerry Barton, Bill Barton, Norma Cowley and Sharon Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Barton and Nathan Barton Jr.; sisters, Martha Barton, Juanita Fleetwood and MaryLou Davis; and stepson, Michael Samier.
