Wanda F. Pike, 83, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday September 27, 2015 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memorial Christian Church, Moline.
Wanda was born May 31, 1932 in Kinsley, Kansas, a daughter of Carl A. and Velna L. McVey Livengood. She graduated from Rock Island High School, Class of 1950. She was united in marriage to William N. Pike on July 9, 1950 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2012.
In addition to being a homemaker, Wanda was a crossing guard for many years for the Moline-Coal Valley school district and also sold Tupperware.
Wanda was a lifetime member of Memorial Christian Church, Moline, where she had served as an elder, was active in the homebound and hospital ministry of the church, and church youth activities for many years.
Wanda was active for over 20 years in both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and received the Silver Fawn Award for her service. She was a lifetime member of the P.T.A. and a member of the 1950 Club of Rock Island High School. She enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling and camping with her family.
Survivors include her son, Carl John Pike, Rock Island, IL; daughter and son-in-law, Shelley M. and Tommie R. Close, Coal Valley, IL; grandchildren (and spouses), Tamara (Aaron)Daily, Colona, IL, William Carl Pike, Rock Island, IL, Robert D. Pike (Haylee Davison), Matherville, IL, Caitlin (Richard) Holm, Thomson, IL, and Cody R. Close, Coal Valley, IL; great-grandchildren, Alyssia Daily, Hunter William Holm, and Piper Olyvia Pike; sisters, Jean (Richard) Dorbeck, Melba (Jesse) Andereck, and Donna (Donald)Long, all of Rock Island; sister-in-law, Rose Klak, Rock Island; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Pamela S. Pike; brother, Ricky D. Livengood; brother-in-law, Tom Klak; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Virginia and Charles Palmer; and two nephews, David Dorbeck and Richard Dorbeck, Jr.
