Wardean Lampkin, 86, of Rock Island, died Friday, December 18, 2015 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 9 - 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of the Scholarship Fund at Second Baptist Church, Rock Island.

Wardean was born in Preston, Miss. on Oct. 30, 1929, a daughter of John Tyler and Avana Jackson Smith. She married William "Bill" Lampkin on Oct. 25, 1947 in Louisville, Miss. They later divorced.

Wardean was a member of Progressive Baptist Church in Davenport.

She loved spending time with her grandkids. She also enjoyed music and cooking.

Survivors include her children and spouses, Carl Sr. and Ora Lampkin, Rock Island, Helen and Ronnie Forrest, Rock Island, Janice Lampkin, Racine, Wisc., Nadine and Kimber Gay, Moline and Glen Lampkin, Rock Island; 8 grandchildren; a host of great and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Johnnie and Betty Smith, Flint, Mich., Jneal and Thelma Smith, Bettendorf, Valgene and Ann Smith, Flint, Mich., Juanita Terry, Rock Island, Val Smith and Arnold Smith II, both of Louisville, Miss.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Verdis, Arnold and Veolia Smith and Earlean Moore.
