Wayne Granneman, 86, of Davenport, passed away Monday August 10, 2026 at the Davenport Lutheran Home, Davenport, Iowa.
Visitation will be held on Sunday August 23, 2026 at St. Paul Lutheran Church from 2:00 to 4:00p.m. A memorial service will be held at 10:00a.m., Monday August 24, 2026 at church. His ashes will be laid to rest in St. Paul’s Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in his name to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Camp Shalom Christian Camp, Maquoketa, Iowa.
Wayne was born on November 17, 1939 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Gerald R. and Ruth (Suhr) Granneman. He later graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Master’s Degree in counseling. He married Donna (Campbell) Persels on July 16, 1982.
Wayne retired from the Davenport School District, where he was employed as a counselor for over 30 years.
Wayne loved spending time with his family, traveling, fly fishing and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, where he sang in the choir and was a member of the Chord Busters.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; children, Michelle (Stephen) Evans, Steve (Tina) Persels, Beth Schechter; grandchildren, Rachel (Eric Hartmann) Evans, Karly Evans, Leah (Kade Buysse) Evans, Peter Evans, Nathan Smith, Madalyn Smith, Andrew Smith, Joey (Harley) Schechter, Claire Schechter, Adam Persels, Araya (Xavier) Persels-Hutton; and son in law, Scott Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Ruth Granneman; daughter, Cynthia (Cindy Marie) Smith in 2020 and sister, Sandra Picken.
