January 21, 1927 – March 29, 2014
Wayne H. Mueller, 87, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Edgington, IL went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 29, 2014 in Phoenix. A memorial visitation will be Friday from 4-7 pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Burial will be private at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Taylor Ridge. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of Zion Lutheran Church.
Wayne was born Jan. 21, 1927, a son of Nicholas & Ruby Fuhr Mueller. He was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Taylor Ridge, Ill. He served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged on July 7, 1946. Wayne spent the majority of his life farming and raising hogs outside of Edgington. He also spent a few years selling Big Wheels farm machinery.
Many remember his playing the saxophone in the Elliott's Orchestra. Throughout his life, he never gave up playing the saxophone. It was a true passion of his. In his later years he enjoyed spending his winter months on the island of Kauai, Hawaii.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lurae Mueller, Phoenix, Ariz.; son, Barry (Sue) Mueller, Postville, Iowa; son, Mark Mueller, Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandsons, Bryan Mueller, Postville, Iowa and Jason Mueller, Charles City, Iowa; and sister Helen Cedergren, Meridian, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Hazel Castle and brothers, Charles, Warren & Myron.
