Obituary

William Hall Adair, 82, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, March 5, 2023 at his daughter's residence surrounded by his family.  A private family graveside service will take place at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be presented. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

William was born in Charleston, Illinois on July 19, 1940, son of George William and Audrey Helen (Hall) Adair. William was a U.S. Army veteran who served during Vietnam.  He later worked as an Operations Research Analyst for the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense. In 1986, he moved to Brussels, Belgium where he supported the automation of military force planning for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). During this time, he continued his military service as an Army Reservist in Heidelberg, Germany, retiring at the rank of Colonel.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, William Hall Adair Jr. of Omaha, NE and Patricia Adair Fieldson, of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren, Annalise Harp, Will Adair, Bennett Harp, Katie Adair, Andrew Adair, and Maddie Adair; his former wife, Patricia Ann Adair; and siblings, Elizabeth Waters, Robert Adair, and Lawrence Adair.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest son, George William Adair II.
