William C. "Bill" Capps, 80, of Rock Island, died Thursday, January 30, 2014 at St. Anthony's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rock Island. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be an hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of The Salvation Army, Moline Corps, 2200 5th Ave., Moline, IL 61265 .
William was born in Mt. Vernon, Ill. on August 28, 1933, a son of Elmer and Lela Rodgers Capps. He married Inez Wright on June 16, 1951 in Mt. Vernon. William was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War.
William painted 23 years for International Harvester Farmall Works, Rock Island. He later worked 7 years for Rock Island School District No. 41.
William was extremely active with the Salvation Army. He also enjoyed hunting and being outdoors.
Survivors include; his wife, Inez Capps, Rock Island; children (and spouses), Billy Jo (Brenda) Capps, Milan and Andy (Randi) Capps, Morton, Ill.; grandchildren, Charly and Cathleen Capps; great-grandson, Ethan Capps; sisters, Rose Morgan and Barbara Karsh, both of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; and brother, Tom Capps, Mt. Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandsons, Jason and Benjamin Capps, sisters, Eleanor Barr and Dorothy Davis and brother, Jim Capps.
