William J. "Bill" Klauer, 60, of Rock Island, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4 to 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the NFL Play 60 program.

William Julius Klauer was born on January 6, 1955 in Lancaster, Wis., a son of Julius and Genevieve Errthum Klauer. He married Rhonda McCleave on May 29, 1982 in LeClaire, Iowa. Bill worked as a Chief Engineer at Wonder Bread for 25 years, managing the Davenport and Waterloo operations. He was most recently employed at Clarion Hotels.

Bill was a humble family man who unconditionally extended his support to anyone in need. He was always there for his family and others. Bill was very involved in Rock Island Girls softball, he volunteered as a softball coach and umpire. He was a Boy Scout leader and was always working on home improvement projects for his family. Bill also greatly enjoyed camping and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rhonda; children, Jaime (Christopher) Walters, Geneseo, Alex (fiance, Jacob Stange) Klauer, Davenport, Iowa and Jube (Kristin) Klauer, Clarksville, TN; grandchildren, Lana and Jacob Walters; and sisters, Pat (John) Rauch, Pewaukee, WI, Joan (Fred) Rohrer, Ixonia, WI, Dana (Ken) Riphenburg, Osseo, WI, Deb (Mike) Duncan, Oconomowoc, WI, a sister in law, Donna Klauer, McKinney, TX, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rod Klauer.
