William "Bill" C. Milnes, 68, Moline, IL passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, IA. There will be a visitation from 4-6:00 PM on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Private family inurnment at Maroa Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
Bill was born on October 5, 1956 to Charles and Shirley (Johnston) Milnes in Medicine Lodge, KS. The family later moved to Eldridge and he graduated from North Scott Community High School in 1974. Bill attended Muscatine Community College, earning an Associate's Degree.
After graduation, Bill worked for Alcoa for a few years before starting his career in construction. Bill was a self-employed contractor who did both commercial and residential projects and was still working at the time of his passing.
Bill was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Cardinals, and Notre Dame's Fighting Irish football team. During his schooling he played basketball and baseball and was a very talented player who was scouted by the MLB and had a try-out for the Royals. He continued playing baseball in recreational leagues for many years afterwards.
Bill is survived by his children, Mary-Kate Milnes, Maggie Milnes, Michael (Kristin) Morales, and Melissa (Austin) Kelchen; siblings, Margaret Pratt, Edith Danhakl, and Jean Reinhard; and grandchildren, Olivia and Lucas Morales.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant son, William David Milnes.
