William T. “Bill” Davidson, 85, of Altona, IL, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026 at OSF Healthcare, Bloomington, IL. 

Bill was born May 1, 1940 in Rock Island, the son of James and Theda (Pfundstein) Davidson. He married Cheryl Williams on December 17, 1966 in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on January 10, 1997. He also was preceded in death by his sister Doris Grannis, his brother Jimmy Davidson; his sons, William “Billy” Davidson, Jr., Eric Herbert, and Shawn Davidson; his grandchildren Nichole Davidson and Scotty Davidson-Stump.

 Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030-7th Avenue, Rock Island with visitation one hour prior to service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. 

No one would sum Bill up as just a welder: the word that kept coming up. He was the Boss of it all. A man who would take the wrong turn on purpose — Not only to explore, but for an extra couple minutes to tell a story. A man that never missed his moment for a joke. THE jokester. In short, the words will never be enough to describe the man who left a legacy of family, hard work, and love. 

Survivors include his brother Robert Davidson, Linda Vista, CA; His children, Timothy (Dyan) Herbert, El Cajon, CA, Sheila (William) Walker, Lakeside, CA and Reika Davidson, Milan, son Michael Williams, San Diego, CA, son Dan Miller El Cajon, CA; 23 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and an endless count of friends.
