William Gerard "Bill" Mariner, 66, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday October 3, 2024.

A service to celebrate his life will be at 2:30 PM Saturday October 12, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Private inurnment will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.

Bill, a West Side Irishman, was born on November 15, 1957 in Chicago, the son of Robert Gerald and Jacquelyn Ann (Shealy) Mariner. He graduated from Fenwick High School, Oak Park, Illinois in 1975 and later from Augustana College in 1979. Bill married Lori Anne Foster on June 28, 1997. She preceded him in death on April 22, 2016.

Bill spent his career in the Quad City area bringing joy, kindness and laughter to all who met him. He loved spending time with his family, friends and kittens. Bill enjoyed watching all Chicago sports teams and was a true Beethoven playing his fabulous baby grand.

Survivors include his siblings, John (Vicky) Mariner, Arlington Heights, Illinois, Mary (Richard) Woody, Overland Park, Kansas, James Robert Mariner, River Forest, Patty (Preston) Davis, Paoli, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Gail (Rick) Sederquist, Taylor Ridge; special nieces and nephews, Bob, Andy, Jessica, Meghan, Lauren, Michael, Ryan and Tripp.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jacquelyn; wife, Lori and brother, Michael B. Mariner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the Quad City Animal Welfare Center or The American Red Cross.
