William "Willie" P. Ashby, 71, Rock Island, IL passed away after a brief cancer battle on November 28, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. There will be a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at the Rock Island Moose Lodge. Memorials may be made to the family.

Willie was born on September 17, 1953 to William and Connie (Mendoza) Ashby in Moline, IL. He grew up in Rock Island and graduated from Rocky. Willie spent his career working as a welder for John Deere Harvester and retired in 2006 after 35 years. Willie then had a landscaping business with his brother, Frank.

Willie was united in marriage to Heather White on September 20, 2024 after a long courtship. They went to Kavanaugh's every Wednesday to Blues Night. They also enjoyed going on drives, especially to Wisconsin where they would stop at various places to get burgers, fries, and cheese curds.

Willie liked spending time outside, whether it was fishing, camping, golfing or tending to his yard. He loved being with his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Willie will be greatly missed by his wife, Heather; children, Jamy Ashby and Tom (Veronica) Ashby; grandchildren, Courtney and William Ashby; Paige Raaen; Tommy and Natalie Ashby; great-grandchildren, Bentley, Jaxon, Harisson, Vivian, and Lydia; siblings, Judy Hansen, Frank Ashby, and Kelly Blake; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Willie Ashby; brother, Roger Ashby; and his beloved dog, Izzie.
