Obituary

William S. White, 67, of Milan, passed away March 20, 2018 at his residence, after a very difficult 2 year battle with cancer.

Services will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Rock Island.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations to be made to Genesis Hospice http://www.genesishealth.com/care-treatment/hospice/foundation or the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan is assisting family with arrangements.

William was born on November 15, 1950 in Richwood, WV, the son of Shelvy and Alice (Stewart) White.  He married Rosalie Phares on March 26, 1974 in Rock Island.  William was enlisted in the US Army from 1968 – 1971 followed by 3 years in the Army Reserves.  In 1973-2003 he was a truck driver for Eagle Foods.  1978 – 1995 he ran White's Garage. He was a heavy equipment operator from 2004-2012 in Rock Island.  William was employed by DeMarlie Trucking from 2015 until his passing.  He was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness in September of 1974.

Will was a military history buff who enjoyed traveling with his family.  He also enjoyed: hunting, fishing, country music, restoring old cars, remodeling homes and anything else that kept him moving and using his hands.  When he wasn't with his family or working with his hands, windshield time and the open road were his happiest moments.

Will is survived by his wife Rose White; sons, Joe (Amber) White of North Aurora and Chad (Natalie) White of Bettendorf; daughter, Kylee (Rob) Thompson of Milan; Grandchildren, Rhyse and Evan Thompson (Kylee) and Parker White (Joe); and siblings, Bob, Jack, Clyde and Freddie Jo, all of North Carolina, Becky and Faye of West Virginia, Jean of Tennessee, and Jill of Texas.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kaye; and brothers, Stevie, Jim and Tom.
