Obituary

Willie B. Glispie, 86 of Rock Island, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015 at the University of Iowa, Hospitals and Clinics.

Funeral services are 11 am Tuesday at Second Baptist Church, Rock Island. Burial is at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 pm Monday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.

Willie B. Hudson was born Nov. 24, 1929 in Preston, Miss., a daughter of Marcus "Tee" and Gussie Baker Hudson. She married the Rev. Levi C. Glispie on July 18, 1956 in Preston.

Willie worked many years as a nurse's aide at the former Moline Public Hospital, retiring in 1984. She later worked for the Johannes Bus Co., Rock Island. She was a volunteer at Trinity Medical Center and was a faithful and supportive "First Lady" to her husband, Levi, as he served as Pastor to African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) congregations in the area.

She enjoyed shopping, bowling and traveling.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Levi; son, Benford Glispie, Las Vegas; grandsons, Benford Glispie Jr., Aurora, Ill., and Benjamin (Andrea) Glispie, Dallas; great-grandson, Romulus Glispie, Dallas; sisters, Odelia Cotton, Rock Island, Helen Carruthers, Rock Island, Delsine Hearst, Omaha, and Christine (Howard) Harrison, Omaha; niece, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lorine Gaithright; brothers, Luther Hudson, L T Hudson, Sylvester Hudson, J B Hudson, Charles Hudson and Milton Hudson.
