Willie J. Stewart Sr. , 78, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday January 23, 2020 at UnityPoint-Trinity, Rock Island.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 7, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.

Willie was born on July 13, 1941 in Meridian, Mississippi. He was born to James B. Stewart and Mattie Jane Grassaree. He graduated from Harris High and attended Harris College, Meridian, MS. He was employed at John Deere and retired from Stetson, Rock Island, IL. He married Gwendolyn Elliott, Eunice Mayfield and Margie Phelps. He leaves his cherished memories, and will be greatly missed by his children, James Durrell Stewart, Meridian, MS, Tanga Renata Stewart, Sacramento, CA ; grandchildren, Marcus Clayton Stewart, Meridian, MS, Shaniece Banks, Woodland Hills, CA and Keshia Stewart, Oakland, CA; siblings, William (Maryann) Perry, Meridian, MS, Rosie (Melvin) Woods, Milan, IL.; a host of nieces and nephews; special niece, Denisa McReynolds and cousin, Cleveland Ellis.

Willie was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Stewart; father, James B. Stewart; mother, Mattie Jane Grassaree; sisters, Rena Harice and Lena Nettles; and son, Willie James Stewart Jr.
