Obituary
Barbara Ann Ridnour, 87, of Milan, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 18, 2023, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday September 21, 2023, at Graceland Cemetery, Creston, IA.
Barbara was born to Helen M. and Kenneth L. Irish on March 26, 1936, in Toledo, Iowa. She graduated from Toledo High School in 1954 and attended Junior College in Creston, Iowa where she met and later married Harold C. Ridnour on December 4, 1955. Barbara and Harold had three children, Eric Scott, Lisa Ann, and Ann Marie, and enjoyed 67 years together until his passing on November 13, 2022.
Barbara had been employed at the Moline Chamber of Commerce for 25 years before her retirement in 1995.
In her earlier years, she was an accomplished pianist. Barbara enjoyed her home and garden and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, genealogy, organizing family reunions, and writing family newsletters. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline.
Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Ann Ridnour and Ann (David) Mangelsdorf; grandchildren, Shawn (Amanda) Ridnour, Kelli Ridnour, Amanda (Tyler Engholm) VanWatermeulen; Christi (Quinton) Mangelsdorf-Helgason, and Aletha (James) Gauley; great grandchildren, Samantha, Isela, Wyatt Ridnour, Madie Wycoff, Christopher Matthews and Alyahna Gauley; great great granddaughter, Charlie Mae Ridnour; and brother in-law Robert Ridnour. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, Eric Scott Ridnour; parents, Kenneth and Helen; in-laws Claude and Letha; sister in-laws Donna and Sharon, and Sharons husband Ed Pinske; sister, Alicia Kimmerle, her husband Harry, and their daughter Sheryl Greene.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Ade and staff, Pastor Wilfred Karsten, Unity Point at Home Visiting Nurses, and Unity Point Hospice for the wonderful care Barbara received.
