Brian L. Schmidt

Brian L. Schmidt, 68, of Reynolds, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022, at his residence after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 801 W. Edgington St., Reynolds. Visitation will be two-hours prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow in Reynolds Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Brian was born October 20, 1953, in Rock Island, a son of Marlin “Jake” and Ida Schmidt. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the public works department for the City of Rock Island for 15 years. He later worked as the building manager at Highland Toyota for 12 years. Brian enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, camping, riding his Harley, hunting, traveling, and farming. Brian especially loved spending time with his family and cherished his four granddaughters.

Those left to honor Brian’s memory include his son and daughter-in-law, Jake and Brittany Schmidt, Machesney Park, Illinois; son, Chris DePaepe, Andalusia; granddaughters, Emory Leigh and Ella Rae Schmidt and Brooklynn and Alayna DePaepe; sisters, Sharon (Bob) Curtis, Reynolds, and Nadine (Tony) Liberatore, Springfield, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Susie Ziegler and Bonnie Paulsen.
