Carol M. (Linquist) Christensen

Carol M. Christensen, 86, of Rock Island, died Monday, February 15, 2021 at her home, with her loving family by her side.  Cremation rites were accorded.   Memorials may be made in care of the University of Iowa Comprehensive Cancer Center, 200 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City, Iowa 52242.  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

Carol was born in Monmouth, Illinois on October 13, 1934, daughter of George and Evelyn Hallberg Linquist.  She graduated from Monmouth High School in 1952 and attended Monmouth College where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority, where it was originated.  She married her high school sweetheart William C. “Chris” Christensen on December 20, 1953 at the First Lutheran Church, Monmouth.  He preceded her in death on May 8, 2008.

Carol worked 20 years as a secretary for John Deere Harvester, Moline, retiring in 1994.

Carol was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, Kings Daughters and the Horace Mann P.T.A., where she previously served as president.  She was active in both, Boy and Girls Scouts for many years and was an avid Bridge player.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son and daughter-in-law, William G. and Marie Christensen; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David Krause, and grandchildren, twins, Evan (Julia) Christensen, Christopher (Karolyn) Christensen, Anna (Joe Kowalski) Christensen, and Ethan (Kathleen) Christensen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Chris.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
