Carolyn A. Lund, 89, of Taylor Ridge, passed away Thursday June 2, 2022 at Silver Cross Nursing and Rehabilitation, Rock Island.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30am Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be Monday from 4:30-7:00pm, with a rosary recited at 4:00pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Alleman High School Scholarship Fund, St Joseph Evening Meal or St. Anthony’s Window.
Carolyn was born on October 20, 1932 in Rock Island, the daughter of Hugh and Louise (Houldsworth) Woeber. She married Holger Lund on June 7, 1952 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Tuesday June 7th would have been their 70th anniversary and they are reunited again!
Mrs. Lund had been employed as the supervisor of Rock Island Township for 16 years, before her retirement. She had also served on the Rock Island County Board. Carolyn was a life long Democrat and was a member of the Rock Island County Democratic Women’s Club.
Carolyn dearly loved her Chicago Cubs! And she relished getting to see them win the World Series in 2016! She also was an avid golfer on Tuesdays Women’s League at Indian Bluff for many years. You could always find her at 4:30 watching Jeopardy. Carolyn was a proud member of Rock Island High School “50’s” Club. She had formerly been a member of Sacred Heart Church, Rock Island and currently was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport.
Survivors include her children, David (Lorri) Lund, Taylor Ridge, LuAnn Kerr, Rock Island, Kareen Lund, Rock Island, Sandy Stephenson, Davenport, Linda (Leo) Schnoor, Wheaton, IL, Lorrie Huiskamp, Davenport; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Holger; son, John Lund; Son-in-Law, Joseph Kerr; great grandson, Jacob Shumaker; brothers, Hugh, George and David Woeber; sister Mary Lou Schreck.
