Charlotte A. (Tonn) Wiese

Charlotte A. Wiese, 94, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island, Illinois. 

Charlotte was born September 18, 1926 in Sioux Center, Iowa, daughter of William and Dora Brunquell Tonn. She married Ernest “Tom” Wiese on October 22, 1949 in Maywood, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 18, 2013. 

She was an active member and devoted volunteer at her church where she also took a call to serve as their kindergarten teacher and taught for 13 years. She loved spending time with her children. Prior to that, she served as secretary of the Davenport Park Board for 8 years. 

Charlotte enjoyed music, singing and gardening. She will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and greatly missed by all. 

Survivors include: her son and daughter-in-law Randy and Mary Walsh Wiese, Rock Island; two daughters and sons-in-law: Dori and Joel Railling, Appleton, WI and Beth and Tom Shambeau, Appleton, WI; grandchildren: Jack (Crystal) Wiese, Patricia Wiese; Reese Railling (Kendra), Frederick Railling, Dan Railling; Adam (Kendall) Shambeau, Stephen Shambeau, and Jenny (Josh) Gitter and great grandchildren: Raymond and Chloe Wiese; Oliver and Henry Shambeau and Noelle and Archer Gitter along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.   

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters: Helen Perkins, Irene Smith, Eleanor Moeller, Gertrude Cawiezell, Lydia Bahne, Ruth Bahan Watts, and Marjorie Goad; and brothers: Reinhardt and Martin Tonn.   

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Moline or to Arrowhead Ranch.  

A live-streamed memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island (and may be viewed at wheelanpressly.com/live-stream/Rock Island). Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  

Current public gathering guidelines regarding social distancing, facemasks and capacity will be observed.
