Sivels on June 30, 1984, in Springfield, Illinois; he preceded her in death. She worked for many years at Montgomery Wards, Palmer Chiropractic College, and lastly at the Benedictine Sisters of Saint Mary Monastery where she did housekeeping.  She collected elephant art, African American figurines, wishbones and rooks she thought looked cool. She enjoyed cooking and was especially known for her spaghetti. She also enjoyed cleaning and taking care of her plants. Cherry loved spending time with her grandchildren, traveling with her husband to concerts, festivals and family reunions, and hanging out with her friends and family. She was the life of the party and loved to laugh and joke. Cherry was love at first sight to most and her smile was infectious and will live on forever.
