Deanne L. (Brown) Shearer

Deanne L. Shearer, 79, of Rock Island, IL, passed away Sunday May 29, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Davenport, IA. 

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, with visitation one hour prior to service. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to UnityPoint Hospice. 

Deanne was born March 21, 1943 in Rock Island to Earl and Alice (Docherty) Brown. After graduating from Rock Island High School in 1961, she began her career as a hairstylist. Deanne owned and operated Hair-Itage Salon in Rock Island for many years. She was previously married to Robert C. Shearer, with whom she raised two daughters. Her home was a place where everyone felt loved. Whether they had fur, feathers or feet, she welcomed everyone into her home or her backyard for a meal.

Deanne will be remembered by all who met her—a thoughtful mother and grandmother, a gracious hostess, and a lover of gardening, movies and shopping.

Surviving are her daughters, Carrie (Otha) Smith, Chicago, IL, and Becca (Matt) Casillas, Davenport; grandchildren, Sofia Smith, Chloe Smith, Bear Casillas, Noni Casillas and Sasha Casillas; brother, Ronald Brown, Moline; a nephew, several nieces and their families. 

Deanne was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Russell Brown.
